About Bart Enserink

The person guiding you has been where you are.

My inspiration does not only come from education or work experience, but from my own life. In my youth and early adulthood, I experienced how experimenting with substances can turn into dependency. What started as relaxation slowly became a coping mechanism I lost control over.

The turning point

I know what it feels like to promise yourself again and again that things will be different, and still remain stuck. The turning point came when I realised I no longer had control. I chose to admit myself into a clinical setting — and there, for the first time, I learned to give words to what was underneath my behaviour. That use was not only about substances, but about function, coping and vulnerability.

My KAIRO moment: recognising that direction does not return by itself, but has to be reclaimed.

Professional depth

Eight years inside clinical addiction care.

I am specialised as a Dutch GGZ-agoog, with a focus on addiction-related problems. From 2016 to 2024, I worked within clinical addiction care and forensic psychiatry — gaining extensive experience with substance use, craving, dependency patterns, loss of control and recurring destructive behaviour.

In the last two years I worked from a senior position, in close collaboration with psychologists, psychiatrists and management, gaining experience in programme development, quality and structure. In 2025, together with a psychology practice, I developed an online programme that became an important foundation for KAIRO.

With gratitude

In the origin of KAIRO, I want to express my gratitude to Dinka Kalcik — who gave me the opportunity to develop an online programme, and inspired me to think bigger.

Background

Personal experience. Professional depth. One clear direction.

KAIRO was founded by Bart Enserink, a Dutch GGZ-agoog and addiction specialist, with eight years of experience within clinical addiction care and forensic psychiatry. That background forms the methodological foundation of KAIRO: guidance that is accessible and in-depth. Without a label or treatment context, but with structure, awareness and attention to lasting behavioural change.

Depth, without the clinical machine.

Do not wait until it becomes bigger.

Sometimes change begins with honestly recognising that a pattern has gained more grip than you want. From that point, space can open.
